Eating Healthy – Simple Tricks To Stay On Track

Healt care tips for women

We are heading into the holiday season and you know what that means, eating healthy is going to start getting a little tougher to do. It’s not impossible, just a little more challenging. To help you stay on track try some simple ‘tricks’.

There are many things you can do to make sure you eat better besides just your foods. Remember too, that it’s not just about eating healthy, it’s also about how much exercise you get. So, if you know you are going to splurge on your holiday meal, or just on a Friday night, you can ‘undo’ some of the bad side effects by working a little harder. So if you normally spend 30 minutes in the gym, you may want to do a little extra.

Another great strategy is to simply get right back up on the wagon if you fall off. Every day is a new beginning to your weight loss efforts. One day here and one day there isn’t going to completely undo all your hard work, as long as those ‘slips’ do not happen too often.

So, what should you eat? Well, to a degree that will depend on you and your overall health and whether or not you have any underlying health concerns. If you do, you may want to talk to your doctor to help you set up a healthy diet plan.

For the most part, though, a healthy diet will consist of eating mostly natural foods. Try to stay away from eating too many processed foods. Many people will go to the store and pick up a bunch of frozen ‘diet’ dinners. This isn’t really all bad except that whenever you eat prepared food there are usually a lot of preservatives and sodium in them. It is always better to make your dinner from scratch using only fresh ingredients.

To take it up a notch try to eat only organic foods. There are more and more organic stores popping up all around the country, I live in a very small town and we even have an organic food store.

When you eat foods like rice, pasta or bread stay away from the ‘white stuff’. White bread, white rice and regular pasta do not add anything to your diet but they can add a lot to your hips. Instead eat whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta and brown rice.

Do not underestimate the number of calories that are in fruit juices either. Many people will think that they are getting some helpful fruit into their diet by drinking fruit juices, but in many cases they are adding hundreds of extra calories a day.

One last tip, drink enough water. Most people in this country are actually dehydrated. A good rule of thumb is to remember that by the time you feel thirsty you are already dehydrated. It is recommended that you drink half your body weight in ounces of water everyday.

Eating healthy does not have to be a chore. Some simple daily changes in your diet can have a huge impact, for the good, on your health. Start small and you can build up from there.

Personal Stress Management: Relaxation Strategies

Healt care tips for women

It’s a plain fact that only you can help yourself overcome stress and the key to that starts with your mind. Without knowing it, the mind is the initial target of stress since everything that happens in our life is initially perceived and processed by our brain. Learning to control your chain of thoughts and a few relaxation tips can do wonder for your personal stress management.

Relax and say goodbye to stress

The first method in dealing with stress in your own personal way is to learn how to relax. It might not be much but professionals and therapists agree that being relaxed while in the throes of stress can help you find solutions in getting rid of it. There are plenty of methods that can help you relax, and you can choose one that will suit you best.

Music and dancing

It is true that the music soothes the savage beast, and your mind is definitely savage when under the influence of stress. Playing instrumental music or nature sounds can ease your mind and help you relax. Some would even recommend dancing to the melody of the music to release the tension that builds up in your body. Loosening all those tight muscles can help you relax as well as increasing the circulation of blood and oxygen into other areas of your body promoting a healthy outlet to stress.

Massage

The body and the mind are connected. The mind can perceive what the body can feel and vice versa. By pampering your body, you can help your mind relax and put you in a calm mood. Getting a massage is a great way to give your body a break, and your mind as well. Shiatsu can do wonders in getting those tired muscles out of your system which will help you feel balanced and energized afterwards.

Aromatherapy massage can also help you relax. Being rubbed with scented oils like jasmine or lavender can help your mind relax while the soothing massage gently caresses your body.

Meditation of mind and body

Meditation is a great way to reduce the tension that builds up in your mind while under the influence of stress. Originally part of the pagan religion, stress is now being incorporated by many professionals as a healthy resort to stress and problems. Try to find a quiet place in your mind or in your office. You may sit down or lie down. Focus on each and every single area of your body and commanding them to relax with your mind. You might feel slightly heavy afterwards since you are internally focused.

Try to visualize an object or phrase a question in your mind. Focus on it as long as necessary. Fleeting thoughts and scenes will flash through but pay them no heed. After a while, your mind will stop projecting images and you will feel like as if you’re floating in total nothingness. You will feel refreshed after meditation and you will be ready to face stress in the face.

Physical exercise

One personal stress management technique that can dispel stress is to find an outlet for your mental and emotional burdens. Physical exercise is a highly recommended approach in dealing with stress and is incorporated by stress management clinics and workouts worldwide.

Since the mind and the body are connected, keeping it healthy will have a profound influence in your state of mind. Doing at least 4 times of physical exercise a week can improve your cardiovascular functions and strengthen your heart.

This will help you avoid effects of stress like stroke, high-blood pressure, muscle pains, and so on.

Easy Hypertension Natural Remedies

Healt care tips for women

Over one third of Americans have hypertension. All those people think they need to be put on meds to get their blood pressure back to normal. For some people that is the only way to get their blood pressure into normal ranges. However, for others, there are natural remedies for lowering blood pressure.

One of the best ways if not the best way, is exercise. Exercise is a wonderful remedy for a huge number of ailments. For people that are overweight, have high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.

You don’t have to hit the gym 7 days a week, or workout so hard you almost pass out. All it takes is a brisk walk for 20 to 30 minutes a day. That’s all you have to do is just get your heart pumping and you are on your way.

Another remedy is cutting out fatty foods. Try to stop eating at fast food restaurants; those are the worst places to go if you are trying to get healthy. There have been documentaries about what fast food can do to your body and your blood pressure.

Salt, cut it out all together. There are other things out there to add flavor to your food. Stop eating fried food, fried chicken, fried pork chops, fried fish; it’s all bad for you. If you still want to eat those kinds of food, well, you can. Just bake, broil or grill it.

One of the hardest things I had to do is cut back on my sodas. It’s true, look on the back of the labels of the next drink you have. You would be amazed at the high level of sodium that goes into each serving.

I know the alternative for soda doesn’t sound too appealing; however water is the best alternative for you. Water doesn’t do the damage that soda does and it’s a heck of a lot cheaper. It will make a world of difference in the way you feel as well.

Eat plenty of fruit people, apples, grapes you name it, it’s good for you. Try to eat grapes for a snack instead of pigging out with candy and potatoe chips. They taste just as good and it’s a whole lot cheaper and better for you.

I know all these remedies may be tougher to do then I make it out to be. However you have to take that first step. I wouldn’t recommend trying to cut everything out all at one time. I would take one step one week, then another in a couple of weeks and so on and so on.

It’s your life people, and you are the only one that can determine if you want to do this. If you decide to go with these hypertension natural remedies, your body will thank you for it, and so will the people who love you.

Natural Remedies for Head Lice

Healt care tips for women

Are you the parent of a preschooler or an elementary school aged child? If you are, there will likely come a point in time when your child develops head lice. As frustrating as head lice can be, it is actually a common occurrence for most children between the ages of three to ten. This is because children are often close to each other during daycare or school.

When it comes to treating head lice, many parents head right on down to their local drug stores to stock up on lice killing supplies, such as head lice combs, lice killing shampoo, and other sprays. Unfortunately, some of these products may not only be ineffective for your child, but they may also put them at risk. Parents are always encouraged to avoid exposing their children to unnatural chemicals whenever possible. The good news, however, for parents of children with head lice is that there are a number of natural remedies and home remedies that can prove successful.

One remedy for head lice involves saturating the hair with vinegar. This approach is nice, as most individuals already have vinegar in their homes. Parents who have tried this way to kill and remove head lice recommend leaving the vinegar on the hair for at least an hour before washing it out. To prevent a mess, shower caps or other similar items can be placed over the hair. Of course, be careful doing so, as you do not want to use something, such as a plastic bag, that could endanger your child. It has been reported that vinegar will kill lice in as little as two or three days.

Tea tree oil is another natural and easy to way to kill head lice. There are some individuals who apply tea tree oil directly to the hair in small amounts; however, many parents recommend another approach. This approach involves placing about fifteen drops of tea tree oil in a bottle of shampoo. When doing so, it is best if the shampoo bottle is not completely full, as this allows the tea tree oil to spread evenly when shook. Tea tree oil, when combined with shampoo, should be used on a daily basis for at least five to seven days.

Mayonnaise can also be used to remove head lice. What is nice about this approach is that it should kill all types of head lice, including the eggs and adults. It is also nice, as all that you really have to do is walk right to your refrigerator. Mayonnaise should be applied to the hair and evenly spread. Many recommend leaving it in the hair for about an hours worth of time. As with applying vinegar to the hair, it is a good idea to cover the hair with a shower cap, just be sure to proceed with caution if you use a shopping bag or something else that can pose a risk of suffocation.

Another natural way to remove head lice is to physically do so. Although this approach is natural, it can be extremely frustrating and time consuming. What you will need is a comb, tweezers, and a flashlight. In fact, this approach should be taken even after you use tea tree oil, mayonnaise, or vinegar. These items will help to kill the lice in a child’s head, but you will still need to take steps to remove the dead lice and eggs from your child’s head. The best way to do so is with a comb or tweezers and when your child’s hair is still wet.

What is nice about using the above mentioned natural remedies for head lice is that they can be used even if you don’t have confirmation that you child has head lice. For example, if your notice a few specks on your child’s head that may resemble head lice, you can still use the above mentioned treatment options, without unnecessarily putting your child at risk or exposing them to many of the chemicals that are found in over-the-counter head lice medications.

Diet For Hypoglycemia

Healt care tips for women

A good diet for hypoglycemia is just the same as it would be if you want to lose some weight. Low carb, high protein. This is the best way to treat your hypoglycemia. If you make the changes you need to make in your diet then you may be able to improve or even eliminate your hypoglycemia.

If you cut the carbs then you should improve your situation dramatically. Eliminate or at least cut down on your intake of alcohol. Alcohol can greatly affect the frequency of hypoglycemic instances.

Decrease the amount of sugar in your diet. Stop drinking pop. Pop has no place in a diet for hypoglycemia. Cut down your use of white sugar, also. But do not just blindly start drinking diet pop, either, diet pop is poison and the chemical used in diet pop will actually trick your body into staying fat.

Increase your fiber intake. Fiber can help regulate the absorption of sugars that you eat. Try increasing the amounts of whole grains, fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes. All full of fiber and very good for you.

Now, if you have been doing some research, you have found that three meals a day is no longer the standard. What you should be doing, especially if you have diabetes or hypoglycemia, is eating several small meals a day. Small meals will help keep your blood sugar levels stabilized and under control.

Caffeine is another aspect of your diet that you should limit or even eliminate. Caffeine will actually help you feel full or at least less hungry and therefore you will not eat the way you should. Caffeine is never a substitute for a good meal.

These are the important changes that you should try to make and stick with when learning to deal with your diagnosis of hypoglycemia or even diabetes. Stay positive and don’t think of this as things you can no longer have. Think of this as an adventure in finding out all the new things you can have. When your blood sugars have stabilized then you can probably even reintroduce some of the old things you used to love, just in moderation from now on.

Having diabetes or hypoglycemia is not a death sentence, unless you choose to not do what is necessary to control it. Then you could find yourself in trouble. Big trouble. Symptoms for mild to moderate hypoglycemia are nausea, chills, cool, clammy skin, sweating, hunger, heart palpitations, irritability, anxiousness, confusion, blurry vision, and dizziness. Severe hypoglycemia can lead to loss of consciousness, seizures, coma, and death, if left untreated.

Following a good diet for hypoglycemia can help you lessen your risk for complications and even lessen your risk for becoming a full blown diabetic. If you are or do become a full blown diabetic then you will have other things you will need to concern yourself with. It is common for diabetics to have decreased blood flow to their extremities. When this happens it can lead to ulcers and other skin conditions. If serious enough the decreased blood flow could lead to tissue death and the need for amputation.

Those who do not like eating fish are encouraged to examine Omega 3 Fatty Acid supplements, which are available for sale at most drug stores and health stores. This natural remedy can provide relief from all forms of arthritis; however, those with rheumatoid arthritis see and feel the best results.

Warm olive oil massaged over the area is another easy and natural way to relieve the pain and discomfort associated with arthritis. What is nice about this approach is that most individuals already have olive oil in their homes. When using warm olive oil, be sure to let cool a little, as olive oil that is too hot can result in painful skin burns. In addition to plain olive oil, sage, rosemary, or garlic can be diluted with olive oil, with about ten more parts of olive oil. When applied to the impacted area, relief should be felt immediately.

Baths are another natural way to treat the pain and discomfort often associated with arthritis. When using baths to seek relief, warm baths are advised. In fact, cold bathes can result in increased pain, which is not the goal. In addition to a traditional warm bath, many of those suffering from arthritis recommend adding about three or four tablespoons of Epson salt to the bathwater. Those diagnosed with arthritis should remain in a warm bath for at least thirty minutes.

Small amounts of exercise is another natural way to relieve the pain and discomfort commonly associated with arthritis. The only problem is that those suffering from arthritis must proceed with caution where exercise is concerned. Moving around, whether it be through walking or squeezing a stress ball, can help, but it also important not to over do it. Those who overexert themselves are likely to experience even more pain and discomfort.

As you can see, there are a number of natural remedies and home remedies that can be used to seek relief from arthritis. Longevity and Healthy Aging

Healt care tips for women

Since the 19th centuries, common prolonged existence or longevity is greater than before. At one time, the average male expected to live up until the mid forties, while the average female expected to live until the late forties. This seems illogical, since many of our older generation of people born in the 1900s are still around today. As our system advanced, experts found that people were living beyond the 70 and 80s. The longevity has changed dramatically providing the people gain.

Still, in recent times, men are expected to live over 80 and women are expected to live past 90. Rarely do you see someone who has lived past 100 years of age. According to experts, a person living past 125 years of age has the same odds of finding a needle in a large haystack. Most people can live past 90 however providing they have quality medical care and their hereditary makeup is healthy.

Many illnesses today emerge from poor eating habits, lack of exercise, poor sleeping habits, and bad habits such as excessive drinking, drugs, nicotine, etc. Still, some people are marked at the beginning since they have genetic makeup that poses threats to their health. According to experts, genetic makeup is responsible for some cases of Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, and so on. According to experts, genetics influences a person’s longevity. If a person has a family history of disease, their risks are higher of coming in contract with the same or similar disease. In short, if a person has a high risk of genetic factors, the person will likely have a shorter living expectancy.

How do doctors consider longevity?
Doctors review family history to search for genetic factors that may show short or long life expectancy. If you have a history of diabetes, the doctor will take actions to reduce your risks, yet it may not help stop the disease. Doctors also consider your lifestyle. Do you smoke? Do you have an alcohol problem? Do you have drug problems? Do you have anorexia or bulimia? Do you exercise? If you answered no to each question, then likely you will live a longer and improved life. On the other hand, if you answered yes to these questions you can expect to live a shorter lifespan.

Doctors will also consider factors, such as environment when considering longevity. If you live in an area where toxins are high, likely you will have unnatural exposure to these toxins, which shortens your life. Even if your genetic makeup illustrates longevity, your environment plays part in how long you can live.

Doctors consider medical care. If you have a history of visiting your doctor often, then you will have a better chance at living healthy. Medical care is the process of reducing risks of disease, preventing disease and finding treatments for pending disease.

What you should know:
Did you know that some types of not all cancers are curable providing the disease is spotted early? Did you know that Alzheimer’s disease is curable if the disease is caught in the early stages? Did you know that most diseases are curable, providing the disease is caught at an early stage?

If you know this, you will see that medical care is essential to live healthy while aging. Since the 19th centuries, medical experts have come along way. In addition, the experts continue to find ways to help people live a longer life. Doctors took their roles in life because they care about your health (at least most) therefore listen to the considerations that doctors focus on to help you live a healthy aging life.
